Politics, Emotion, and Division in the USA – Christian Gamer’s Perspective

This sound familiar?

“ALL (the political party you hate here) are SO BLINDED!  They CANNOT SEE PAST their own agenda.  They ONLY CARE ABOUT (some trivialized list of concerns). They’re SO EMOTIONAL!”

The funny thing is whether it’s a Democrat, Republican, or some other political party the loudest voices sound the same.

Sure, liberals and conservatives have legitimate differences.  But there is one thing gamers usually get that others don’t always in the political world… unity toward common goals.

I know you all remember what Jesus said (especially you minority church going liberals and you evangelical Christian conservatives 😉 ) … a house divided against itself cannot stand.  So, how can the US, or any other nation for that matter, stay standing as long as we find reasons to be at each others’ throats?

What do gamers do?  Even when there is a troll on team;  even when a team member is super weak in their role;  even when your support builds like a mage or your tank equips heavy damage weapons (UGHHH!!!!!) we still do our best mobilize toward victory.

Yes, there are the KSing selfish players out there that you need to block.  But I think most others are fairly genuine, even if we think they might be misguided.  But at the end of the day, no one is above being misguided.  We all have been at some point, I suppose.  And it is that humility of knowing “I was misguided before, and may possibly be now or in the future in some way” that will hopefully help us RESPECTFULLY disagreewith humility and without belittling someone of a different party or mindset.

All liberals should not be characterized as baby murderers and sinners.  All conservatives should not be described as “being for the rich and not caring about the poor.”  Why should a liberal be cast out if they do not support one or two democratic party positions for religious reasons?  Why is it that a Republican would be scorned for supporting Obamacare?

We are all different people and that is what makes us all so special.  God made us all different.  So as long as you do your best to do right by Him all else should be secondary.

Remember, the two commandments that sum up God’s Law can be simplified to (1) Love God and (2) Love others.  It may be Christian to be against acts of sin, but it is not Christian to belittle and condemn individuals for being “pro-choice” or supporting a lawful marriage between same-sex couples.

Brothers, if someone is caught in a trespass, you who are spiritual should restore him with a spirit of gentleness. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted.” – Galatians 6:1

This you know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger; for the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God.” – James 1:19-20

(Please note that SwordSharp.com is not taking a political stance here apart from stating that we believe and support living a life in-line with the teachings of Jesus Christ.  We will never support acts of sin, but we will always support loving the people who sin and encourage them to know the loving God who wants to forgive them.)

LOVE your enemies!  …and don’t call people who are *not* your enemies enemies.  Christians, your war is not against flesh and blood!

It is ok to disagree!  Just don’t be a troll!  (No offense to anyone who might self-identify as a troll.)

What else should be done to help the political climate in the world?  Post your thoughts below.  Otherwise, please pray for the leaders you have and the people around you, especially when they do not agree with your political views!

    • Hello Christina. Hope you are well. Since this isn’t a dedicated Q/A page we’ll be short. It is *not* a Biblical sin to drink alcohol but it *is* a biblical sin to be drunk. Hope this helps!

Feel free to write back any time with prayer requests or other questions! Be well!
